Help Us Preserve the Forest View along
the Scenic Highway to Mount Rainier National Park

We have an opportunity to preserve forest along a critical four mile stretch of highway right outside the main entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park.

The small rural community of Ashford has initiated a grassroots effort to preserve a legacy of mature forest canopy for the last four miles of the scenic highway leading to the Paradise entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. We want to protect this heritage of natural beauty on the road to one of the most pristine areas in the US for visitors from all over the world, for wildlife and watersheds around us, and most of all, for generations to come after us. This is a worthy task, and it is doable, but we have limited resources. We need your help.

With the help of the Nisqually Land Trust, the Nisqually River Council, the Department of Natural Resources, Pierce County, and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service we plan to preserve the forested viewshed. The intent of our strategy is to preserve the view shed by a means that will respect the rights of the landowners to realize the value of their property.

Your contribution will go a long way toward achieving our goal, because foundations considering support of this project will look to see what percentage of the community makes a contribution. For this reason, every contribution will be vitally important, no matter what the amount. Your contribution will help preserve these beautiful forests for the benefit of everyone - from current visitors to the Park to our grandchildren.

Please see the map and descriptions of the areas we wish to protect.

Your contributions will be:

  • Tax-deductible
  • Earmarked for Ashford acquisitions More info
  • Publicly recognized, unless you state that you prefer to remain anonymous.
